Following Stage 2 (service of Court proceedings), the Debtor has 14 days to respond.
If payment has not been made, the Debtor has not responded and has not admitted or denied liability for the debt, our debt recovery solicitors can enter Judgment on your behalf for just £35 (plus VAT). For more on what's involved at Stage 3, please click here.
Once Judgment has been obtained, if the Debtor fails to pay the full amount specified in the Judgment within the specified timescale, it will appear on their credit record and may adversely affect their credit rating.
Obtaining Judgment is a necessary step where you want to proceed to Stage 4 and enforce your debt by instructing a County Court Bailiff or a High Court Enforcement Officer. We can also advise on other options that may be available to you for recovering your debt.
Dependent upon the size of your debt and the stage of the Court proceedings when Judgment is requested, you can recover up to £35 (plus VAT) as a contribution towards your legal costs. This sum will be included in the final Judgment amount against the Debtor. Once your instructions are received we will confirm what costs you are entitled to get back.
